We’re On The Road!

Traveling around the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, you may see Adrift’s M1009 CUCV on the road. It’s our local workhorse rig and great for transporting stand up paddle boards. We converted the Diesel engine to run on Waste Vegetable Oil and we enjoy the smell of tempura & French fries that have replaced the diesel fumes! This one small, individual effort to help keep our planet cleaner and healthier.

The Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle or CUCV Program was instituted to provide the United States military with a cheaper Light Utility Vehicle to augment the purpose-built expensive Game Goats and M151 series “Jeeps” approaching the end of their service life. It initially provided Dodge W/D series in the late 1970s with several military modifications. In the mid-1980s, Chevrolet C/Ks replaced the Dodge vehicles and are still used today in the Light Service Support Vehicle incarnation.
